The Capra Vert Challenge is a month-long elevation-tracking challenge running throughout May 2026. Log your vertical metres from any human-powered uphill activity, and your efforts raise funds for Sea to Sky Hospice Society. $20 from every registration goes directly to hospice care.
May 1 through May 31, 2026. Only activities completed during this window count toward your total.
Registration is handled through capra.run. $20 from every registration goes directly to Sea to Sky Hospice Society.
Nope! You can participate from anywhere. Climb stairs in Toronto, hike hills in Calgary, or tackle mountains wherever you are. The only Sea to Sky requirement is for sidequests, which are optional bonus objectives located in the Sea to Sky corridor.
Any human-powered activity that gains elevation: trail running, hiking, road cycling, mountain biking, ski touring, stair climbing, snowshoeing, scrambling -- if your legs are doing the work and you're going uphill, it counts.
E-bikes, gondolas, helicopters, and other motorized or assisted ascents do not count.
Log in to your dashboard and tap the "+" button in the header. Enter the date and elevation gained (in metres). You can also link a sidequest, in which case a proof photo is required. You can log activities at any point during the challenge.
Open the sun menu in your dashboard header and choose "My activities". From there you can update the elevation on any activity you've logged, or delete it entirely. To change the date or sidequest link, delete the activity and log it again.
Total vertical metres gained during your activity. If your GPS watch or app shows elevation gain, that's the number to use. An out-and-back trail with 500m of climbing counts as 500m, even though you came back down. A loop with multiple ups and downs? Add up all the ups.
You can log multiple activities on the same day. They'll all be combined when calculating your daily total. Remember, only your top 10 days count toward your final score.
Correct. We only count your 10 best days of elevation gain. This means you don't need to be out every single day. Go big on the days that work for you. There are exactly 10 weekend days in May 2026 -- just saying.
Not strictly, but you do need some way to measure your elevation gain. A GPS watch, phone app (like Strava, AllTrails, etc.), or even known route stats all work. Just be honest and consistent with your reporting. Prize winners based on leaderboard positions are expected to track their activities with a fitness tracker, and we may ask for proof of elevation gain.
Teams are groups of up to 4 people. Each member logs their own activities individually, and all their elevation contributes to both their personal total and the team total. You don't need to be out together.
No, teams are completely optional. You can participate as an individual and still appear on the individual leaderboard and be eligible for all individual prizes.
You can leave a team and join another one, but your previous activities stay with the old team's totals. Consider your team choice carefully!
Sidequests are specific, well-known (and lesser-known) objectives in the Sea to Sky corridor that rack up serious vert. Complete one and you earn 1 bonus prize draw entry on top of your regular elevation-based entries.
Absolutely not. Sidequests are entirely optional bonus content. Not all sidequests are suitable for all participants -- some are serious mountain objectives. Please assess your own ability and experience before attempting any sidequest, and read our Terms of Participation.
Possibly! Keep an eye on your email -- we may sneak in additional sidequests as conditions allow throughout May.
Every 100 metres of elevation you log earns one entry into the prize draw. More climbing means more chances to win. Sidequest completions earn additional bonus entries. Draws will be held after the challenge ends.
The top man and woman on the individual leaderboard will each be outfitted head to toe in HOKA gear, including shoes. The winning team's members will each receive a pair of La Sportiva shoes.
Details on prize claiming will be communicated after the challenge. We'll make sure everyone gets what they've earned.
$20 from every registration goes directly to Sea to Sky Hospice Society. On top of that, a generous community member has pledged to donate an extra $1 for every 200m of elevation climbed by the community, up to $5000. The more we all climb, the more they give.
Sea to Sky Hospice Society provides no-cost end-of-life care and support services so that no one in the community has to face that journey alone. They serve families across the corridor from Squamish to Pemberton and beyond.
